At least a million trees in Fairfax County are at risk from invasive vines and other plants. Non-native invasive plant species compete with the native plants that support our native wildlife and the beautiful natural habitats we love in northern Virginia. As a community, we can turn this situation around if we act soon.

By definition, invasives are non-native species that outcompete local (native) plants, undermining the ability of local ecosystems to function. When they spread quickly, invasive plants can take over trees and entire landscapes, leading to broad economic, environmental and even health consequences. The sooner we take action, the less work (and money) will be needed to contain them.
